The Search For A Metaphor For A Total Systems Reboot

Building a better infrastructure for indie film is not going to happen over night.  It takes the entire world to spin for one leaf to fall…  That’s a zen koan that has always stayed with me, with it’s ability to beautifully encapsulate the struggle.

We need metaphors and symbols to help us understand our world.  We hold onto to antiquated ones far too long.  We still say we watch the sun rise or sun set.  Why do we persist in this? Are we ignorant fools convinced that everything revolves around us and planet earth?

What would work well to describe this state we are in and the challenge before us?  I might vote for the largest K’nex ball machine:

 

It’s not a simple problem, but of course the outcome is far greater than just advancing the ball.  How can we describe it succinctly and capture all the hope and promise? I am looking.  Let me know if you find it.
